Nationally known artists visit the Ark, Kerrytown Concert House, other clubs, and campus venues, crowning a flourishing nightlife scene. Home to considerable local talent, Ann Arbor's also a stop for up-and-comers on the college circuit.

"The Happiness Boys": Ann Arbor District Library.

A program of classic vaudeville tunes by the duo of Don Devine and David Owens, 2 retired local software developers. Inspired by the famous vaudeville duo Billy Jones and Ernest Hare, it features songs popular between 1880 and 1950. AADL multipurpose room, 343 S. Fifth Ave. at William. Free. 327-4555.

8 p.m.

"Fats Waller: Jumpin' in the New Year": Kerrytown Concert House.

A Detroit Fats Waller tribute band plays favorites such as "Ain`t Misbehavin'," "Your Feet's Too Big," and more. Members include stride pianist Alvin Waddles, bassist Marion Hayden, and saxophonist-clarinetist Charlie Gabriel. Wine and beer are served. KCH, 415 N. Fourth Ave. $15, $20, & $30.
