The Ark: Beth Nielsen Chapman

Texas-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter who writes strikingly melodic, poetically incisive pop songs exploring various romantic and spiritual themes. She has penned several chart- topping hits, and her 2002 CD Deeper Still features guest vocals by Bonnie Raitt, John Hiatt, Emmylou Harris, and Vince Gill. Opening act is Amy Speace, a fast-rising alt-country singer-songwriter from Hoboken, New Jersey, whose music ranges from contemplative to rocking. $17.50. [venue info]

The Blind Pig: Hollow Drive

Jackson metal band. Opening acts are It Lies Within, an anthemic metal band from Ypsilanti, and Sin Theorem, a Lansing hardcore metal band. [venue info]

Crazy Wisdom Tea Room: Merely Miss Katie

Jazz and pop-folk by local singer-songwriter-guitarist Katie Battistoni, who also plays French horn, veena (Indian lute), and keyboards. [venue info]

The Habitat Ultralounge: Bugs Beddow Band

Versatile horn-driven R&B, boogie-rock, blues, and jazz ensemble led by veteran Detroit trombonist Beddow. [venue info]

Keystone Underground Martini Bar: Tracy Kash Thomas Band

R&B, jazz, and roots originals and covers by a band led by this Detroit singer-songwriter. [venue info]

Reunion of this veteran local band, led by Nashville-based Ann Arbor native Hill’s wailing vocals and pumping piano, that plays soulful swing, New Orleans–style funk, and boogie-woogie blues. 6-9:30 p.m. [venue info]
