The Ark: Open Stage

All acoustic performers invited. Fifteen acts are selected randomly from those who sign up to perform 8 minutes (or 2 songs) each. The most talented and popular Open Stage performers are offered their own evenings at the Ark. $3 (members & students, $2). [venue info]

The Black Pearl: Beth Stalker & Jim Rawlings

An eclectic mix of styles, from blues, R&B, and jazz to rock and country, by the Detroit Music Award-winning duo of singer- songwriter Stalker and songwriter-guitarist Rawlings. [venue info]

The Blind Pig: The Starlights

Local rockabilly and swing instrumental trio whose repertoire includes early postwar pop standards and originals in a similar vein. Opening acts are local acoustic folk-rock singer-songwriter Matthew Cifaldi, U-M student singer-songwriter Hana Malhas, and the local acoustic Americana string quartet Lake Folk. [venue info]

The Circus:

Gandy Dancer: Al Hill & the Love Butlers

Reunion of this veteran local band, led by Nashville-based Ann Arbor native Hill’s wailing vocals and pumping piano, that plays soulful swing, New Orleans–style funk, and boogie-woogie blues. [venue info]

The Habitat Ultralounge: Dave Hamilton

Pop covers by this versatile solo guitarist. [venue info]

Keystone Underground Martini Bar: Open Mike

All musicians invited. Also, a set by a guest band each week. [venue info]

Live at PJ's: Woody Pines

Asheville (NC) old-time blues, jazz, and ragtime quartet. [venue info]

The Savoy: Ezmat

Local R&B-oriented hip-hop MC. Opening act is The Hyenaz, a Wayne hip-hop-inflected punk-rock quartet. [venue info]

Zingerman's Roadhouse: Tracy Kash Thomas

R&B, jazz, and roots originals and covers by this Detroit singer- songwriter. [venue info]
