"Chords and Cuisine Cabaret Show": Huron Valley Harmonizers Chapter of SPEBSQSA.

Rob Pettigrew directs the 30-voice Harmonizers men's barbershop chorus, in a program of old and new 4-part a cappella songs, including some sing-alongs. Also, guest performances by the Saline High School choirs and the award-winning Harmonizers quartet Chordiology. Pasta dinner. Stony Creek United Methodist Church, 8635 Stony Creek Rd. U-M Life Sciences Orchestra.

Mark Latham conducts this ensemble of musicians from the U-M medical and science staff in John Corigliano's Promenade Overture, Brahms's Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Haydn's Symphony no. 12 in E Major, and Shostakovich's Symphony no. 12 in D Minor (The Year of 1917). Guarneri String Quartet: University Musical Society.

This superb quartet, renowned worldwide for its seamless, graceful ensemble playing, is the longest-surviving string quartet in the United States - it still has 3 of the 4 members who founded it in 1964. A perennial favorite with local audiences, the Guarneri plans to retire after the 2008-2009 concert season. This is one of its final concerts, the first in a series featuring Beethoven string quartets. Program: Beethoven's String Quartet in E-flat Major and String Quartet in A Minor. Followed at 6 p.m. in Rackham (4th floor) by a postlude dinner ($50). Rackham Auditorium. Tickets $24-$50 in advance at the Michigan League and ums.org, and at the door.
